There are two types of time for glass glue: surface drying and complete solidification.
1. Adhesion time: The curing process of silicone sealant develops from the surface to the inside. The surface drying time and curing time of silicone sealants with different properties are not the same. Therefore, if surface repair is to be carried out, it must be done before the surface of the glass sealant dries (acidic sealant and neutral transparent sealant generally should be within 5-10 minutes, and neutral mixed color sealant generally should be within 30 minutes). If color-separating paper is used to cover a certain area, it must be removed before the outer skin is formed after applying glue.
2. Curing time: The curing time of glass glue increases with the increase of bonding thickness. For example, for 12mm thick acidic glass glue, it may take 3 to 4 days to cure, but within about 24 hours, the outer layer of 3mm has already cured.
When bonding glass, metal or most woods, it has a peel strength of 20 pounds per inch after 72 hours at room temperature.
If the area where the glass glue is used is partially or fully sealed, then the curing time is determined by the degree of tightness of the seal. In an absolutely sealed place, it is possible to remain unsolidified forever. If the temperature is raised, the glass glue will become soft.
